CHEMICAL PEELS are performed for many conditions. Dr. Steinberg from the Cosmetic Medical Clinic has a vast range of peels from mild to heavy for skin improvement and maintenance... The most popular peel is the Glycolic Physician peel for active acne; sun damaged skin and fine lines. The skin is treated with products then monthly light peels to slowly reverse the damage or acne. Moderate to heavy peels are used for acne scarring and dull weathered skin. These peels usually need 5 - 7 days to recover.
Dr. Steinberg has a specially formulated Jessner's peel for the treatment of pigmentation. This peel is ideal for pigmentation and aging skin. Pigmented skin is first treated with a Topical Gel to lighten pigmentation prior to peeling.
Skin is first assessed at initial consultation and advice given as to which peel is suitable. Dr. Steinberg has many years experience with a wide range of peels for all types of skin.

MD Products are needed as preparation for the glycolic peels - for 1 month prior to peels. Dryness for 2 - 3 days - peels are done monthly for 6 months for best result. A light exfoliation happens to skin. Patient needs to do a facial scrub the night before peels and weekly while using MD Products.
Ultraceutical Even skin tone is needed as preparation for all DR Peels and TCA peels. For 1 month prior to peel. Patient needs to do a facial scrub the night before peel. Patient usually needs to take a week off work, Skin is very dry, discolored & starts peeling usually on day 2-3 and takes 2-3 days to peel.
DR PEEL FOR PIGMENTATION
This is a new generation peel treatment that provides simultaneous multi-action effects. It is a uniquely formulated peeling solution that contains five different acids and gives visible results in smoothing the skin texture. The peel solution is applied to the skin until a light frosting effect is achieved. A mild tingling is felt for a few minutes.
The skin becomes pink like a mild sunburn. It may stay pink for the first day.

On the third day you may experience the first signs of light peeling. This will start in the chin area, it may peel for 2 - 3 days. Daily exfoliation should be done on these days until skin is smooth. Make up can be used daily if you require.

- No vigorous exercise that can cause excessive perspiration
- No other chemical treatment for 6 weeks.

DR TCA Peel with TCA around eye area
For Anti Aging
This peels is a simple, non-surgical procedure with rejuvenates the surface texture of the skin and eliminates fine lines, blemishes, sun damage and scarring.
During this procedure a solution is applied to the area being treated. This is absorbed into the outer layer of the skin, rearranging the fiber’s to create a firmness and give support. It also removes the top layers of the skin which will shed over a period of seven days. The skin will then grow fresh new cells which appear as new, unlined, smooth skin.
The full facial peel procedure is carried out in the surgery by a qualified doctor and takes approximately one hour.
Day 1 Patient should arrive with a clean face. The solution is applied to the face in layers until an overall light frosting is achieved. The eye area is applied last and can be More painful than the face. When you leave the surgery your face will appear red and will feel very tight. Patient will be given a product to use on their face and neck for the next 7-10 days. An application of this product will be applied before you leave the surgery.
Day 2 Your face will have a tanned look and appear wrinkled. (This is normal) It can be Itchy and very dry. Use your product as much as needed over the next few days.
Make up can be used if needed.
Day 3 You may experience the first signs of peeling around the chin area. NEVER FORCE PEEL THE SKIN as this may cause undue redness. You can commence Light exfoliation once a day to help remove dead skin.
Day 4 Peeling will be heavier especially around the eye area. Skin will be very dry so Use as much moisturizer as many times a day as needed. Start exfoliating daily.
Day 5 As above, peeling should slow down. You may look a little pink on the peeled Areas, do not worry as this will settle down.
Day 6 Peeling should only appear around the hairline and neck.
Day 7 Peeling will be minimal.
When your skin has finished peeling it may still be dry, treat skin gently until this has passed. Do not use any acid products for at least 2 weeks after peel.

Glycolic acid is one of a group of naturally occurring acids called Alpha Hydroxy Acids or Fruit acids. The are derived from certain plants and fruits. History suggests that these “fruit acids” have been used for hundreds of years as moisturizers and skin fresheners. How does it work?
Glycolic acid dissolves the “glue” that holds dead cells on the surface of the skin. It is this layer of dead cells which gives the complexion a rough, dull appearance with uneven pigmentation. This layer also clogs pores, giving the appearance of coarseness, open pores and acne. When these dead cells are removed the underlying layer of fresh new cells are exposed. For best results, 6 peels are required, monthly. The concentration of strength is increased with each peel. The peel is applied by the doctor and will cause irritation to the skin and tingling or pins and needle effect which will last for a few minutes. The peel is then washed off and a moisturizer is applied.
After care
No glycolic products should be used for 2 -3 days, only a sun block and after 2 - 3 days you will need to exfoliate your skin. Your skin will feel softer and look clearer. You will then commence your glycolic product until you have your next peel.
